The community of counselors and advisors should be more careful about the institutes they recommend. Unless they know the institute intimately they shouldn't recommend them at all, even if they happen to top the rankings, some of which, have nexus with those who advertise in the magazines that put out these ratings. In my view, even if it sometimes sounds like promoting an institute, advisors should be willing to stick their neck out and guide the student to consider an institute that is good. The student too should not take everything at face value but cross check from other sources. The attitude should be one of healthy scepticism. -
