Marketing involves selling and promoting a business or product. Accounting involves keeping financial records and maintaining financial accounts for a company. In a business, accountants help develop budgets, provide information to a company about how certain decisions will effect a company’s bottom line and ensure that companies comply, financially, with business and tax laws. Accountants also prepare quarterly financial statements and other reports related to the company’s finances. Most accountants must also be a certified public accountant to work in the business industry. Individuals who work in marketing, spend more time developing a company or brand than accountants. Whereas, accountants are concerned with the finances and bottom line. The people in marketing focus on company image and customer relations. While, marketing managers and other marketing positions require some knowledge of finances, they focus on conducting market research, helping develop advertising campaigns and helping determine pricing strategies for a company.
