I have done B.E. in Mechanical engineering from Utkal University in the year 2004. Now I want to M.Tech. Also want to appear GATE. But how?

Hi Shipra, 1) Generally, to pursue M.Tech, you need to pass Bachelor’s degree in the related field of engineering from recognized University. You need to sit for GATE. You may contact the university officials directly for specific criteria and admission details. 2) The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear for GATE : - Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final year of such programmes. - Master’s degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programmes. - Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master’s degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology. - Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master’s degree programme or Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology. - Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institute of Engineers (India); AMICE by Institute of Civil Engineers (India)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible. - Pre-final year students are not eligible to write GATE. 3) Guidelines for preparing for GATE : * To ace the exam, you require the right approach along with the right study materials and strategy. * Stay focused. Plan your preparation after knowing your strengths and weaknesses. You need to be organized and follow a time-table. * You may refer to numerous guide books and join coaching center to work on your fundamentals. Some of the GATE coaching institutes are : -Elite Academy -Brilliant Tutorials -Career Forum -Vani Institute -IES GATE Academy While selecting the best institute, you need to check some of the important parameters such as batch size, faculty, fee etc. * When you get a grip over the basic syllabus, you may refer to mock tests / previous year’s question papers to analyze your preparation and performance before the final exam.
