I have done my 12th with PCM. Do I need to clear PPL to prepare for CPL?

PPL is an intermediate stage before CPL. Although it is not a compulsory one. Usually, aspirants do fly all 200 hours (as required for issue of CPL) on SPL itself. You may get PPL issued at an intermediate stage where you complete all it's requirements as decided by DGCA. It shall although might not be of any major use to you. As most of the air carriers require their pilots to hold a CPL. -
No, Private pilot training is not compulsory to prepare for CPL.
