    In case you don't get your desired college, don't settle for something mediocre. Instead of settling down for some mediocre college, it would be better if you try for some good private university. Many reputed private universities are offering B.Tech ME. They have their different criteria for admissions. Some offer admission on basis of LEET scores, some offer admission on basis of their own tests and some offer admission on the basis of both.     IET-Lucknow is one of the most premium institutes for B.Tech. It is difficult to get admission in mechanical engineering in IET but you can go for other government colleges check the last year's cut-off, the opening and closing rank of the colleges and I think you will get admission in government college.
