VIT, Vellore is a private college. So it's obvious that it will charge a huge amount. Talking about placement, apart from CSE, there is hardly any high scope of getting good placement in any other branches. Some of my friends are studying there and one has taken mechanical also. No doubt, it's a good college for mechanical. But you can't expect a good job. After B.Tech, you have to go for government jobs in mechanical branch. Study properly and don't think about the result now. The result depends on your hard work and according to your hard work, you will get everything in life.
    So study nicely.
    Best of luck.
