I have no internship. I think I can not do so with CAT preparation. Is it required to get a chance in IIMs?

I am a fresher and I am physics (Hons) student. I want to appear in CAT '19. Is work experience or internship needed to get a chance in IIMs?

Having work experience and being a fresher have their own advantages and disadvantages, so it doesn't make much difference.
