I have spectacles. Can I join NDA?

    Yes, you can join NDA even though you wear spectacles. However, you have to fulfil the criteria (Visual standards) defined below:
    Visual Standards:
    The distance vision (corrected) should be 6/6 in one eye (6/9 in worse eye). Myopia should not be more than 2.5 D and hypermetropia not more than 3.5 D including Astigmatism. Internal examination of the eye will be done by means of ophthalmoscope to rule out any disease of the eye. A candidate should have good binocular vision. The colour vision standard will be (CP-III) for Army. A candidate should be able to recognize red and green colours. Candidates will be required to produce certificate

    Hi Tanmay!
    It depends on the extent of weakness in your eyes. The medical standard imposed for eyesight for NDA/NA examinations is as follows.
    1. A candidate should be able to read in a distant vision chart 6/6 in better eye and 6/9 in worse eye with or without glasses.
    2. Myopia should not be more than 2.5 D and hypermetropia not more than 3.5 D including Astigmatism.
    3. A candidate must have good binocular vision. The colour vision standard will be ( CPIII ) for Army.
    4. A candidate should be able to recognise red and green colours.

    Your vision should at least be better than 9/16. It is the least acceptable eye vision ability.
