I have taken admission in b.tech first year. after b.tech i want to do m.b.a? should i drop one year after b.tech to prepare for cat?
Or i should start preparing in college and in which year?

Yes you can drop for one year to prepare for CAT test, if you get good score in CAT exam then you can get good business school for MBA

I will suggest that you start preparing for CAT during your final year. That may indirectly help for employment after BTech as well.

There is no need to drop 1 year for preparation. But for now you should focus on your engineering and you can start serious preparation from 3rd year by taking some correspondence course.
