I like physics and maths and have interest in research. Which branch should I take in BE?

I passed my 12th with very low marks and got an average rank in KCET.

Both the subjects have scope in research but maths has less competition.

    Hey,
If you want to become a scientist and like physics, you should go for pure science rather than engineering, join any research institute like IISER, IISC, etc., or prefer B.Sc as I'm in the same field. In engineering, you will study about machines and stuff, but if you take Physics, you can study string theory, astrophysics, particle physics, blackhole, etc.

You should opt for mechanical engineering.

    Hi
The path for research could either be
    1. B.Sc +M.Sc + Ph.d in physics or maths or
    2. B.tech mechanical/mechatronics +M.tech.
