I m a post grad in history with 52% i wanted to pursue net-exam but could not becoz the criteria for net is 55%.what other studies can i do

I have completed my M.A.in history with 52%.I wanted to persue ugc-net exam for lecturership but could not do so as the criteria for ugc-net exam is 55%.what other courses can i persue after m.a.in history.will appearing for improvement exam fetch me 55% for net exam.should i opt for it?
