I'm about to start my 2nd year of engineering now. Is the requirement of minimum 3 internships to get my B.Tech degree valid for me?

Yes. The new rules are declared. You need to complete three trainings or internships in B.Tech which would be after 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year. Then, you will have 3 internships certifications which are necessary for everyone.
