i'm confused between .net and java.which one is better?.i'm not a computer science student

DotNet and Java, both are object oriented programms written for networks. While Java came first and became popular during the 90's on internet wave, DotNet is microsoft technology, came later with many technical differences. Currently, DotNet usage is on rise for its many simplicities.
