Hi Urvi, Good Morning. There are umpteen opportunities for a student who has passed out with a degree in BDS. the recruitment process varies from state to state. Every year the state govt releases the vacancies in govt and govt funded hospitals. There would be a common entrance exam. Hi Urvi, Dentistry being a lucrative profession, is concerned with all health problems which includes dental care and correction. Dentists help people maintain their health and appearance. Dentistry is changing rapidly, creating many opportunities and challenges. To an extent, it includes cosmetology where corrective treatment is involved. Excellent employment opportunities are available for dentists in dental departments in hospitals, nursing homes, dental clinics and health departments as well as teaching departments in dental colleges. Apart from this, dentists could also work in the Research and Advisory functions of a pharmaceutical and other companies producing oral care products and medicines like toothpaste, mouth wash, gum care products, etc. And as far as the government jobs are concerned the job process differs from one state to another depending on the vacancies. With gaining experience, one can even start his/her own individual practice. Many dentists prefer to be in private practice, as it provides the best financial prospects as well as greater independence. Hope this helps. All the best!

Opportunities for BDS in Govt hospitals are comparatively less but never-the-less there is shortage of BDS in the rural sector hospitals. You need to read the weekly Employment newspaper (Rojgar samachar) regularly as such vaccancies are put up there regularly.
