I'm preparing for CAT & to be safe, I'm also thinking of doing MA in economics but if I clear CAT/SAT, I'll just leave MA, what should I do?

You must choose according to your interest. Prepare well and still if you don't succeed, then you can do MA from Economics. It's an excellent subject and has lots of scope.
