I've completed my B.Tech in MECH. After 2 yrs work-ex I plan to go abroad for MBA. Should I do job in IT or ME sector for better prospects?

My GMAT score is 690. I've heard coming from IT background, one has lesser chance of being admitted to schools. And other thing is if I join Infosys, I'll be changing my career direction twice; once from Mechanical Engg to IT sector job then to MBA.
