I've completed my engineering in 2012 in IT trade.Is it mandatory for me to go for Technical module in SAP or i can go for functionl module?

I am an IT graduate.I am hoping for pursuing my career in SAP. All i want to know is is it possible for me to go for functional modules??? and if not, what job opportunities does technical module offers and is their scope for growth for anyone certified in Technical modules???
