I want to become an astrophysicist. Should I do prepare for JEE Mains and advanced? Is it beneficial?

Dear Anjali, I wouldn't say that JEEs are 'Waste Of Time' for you. It completely depends on you that what is the meaning of waste according to you. Now you have two options; 1) If you give JEEs: IF you are confident enough that you can surely crack JEE Mains and can score at least 5% in advance (for general category), then definitely you can make your career in Space Science at 'Indian Institute of Space Science & Technology, Kerala'. This is only autonomous college in Asia who provides Bachelors, Masters, and even doctorate in space technologies. They are in the collaboration with ISRO hence no worries for Job. You can get huge opportunity to pursue your Masters in foreign college also. 2) If you didn't give JEEs: OK! That's fine! But what after your B.Sc in astrophysics? After that you are bound to do M.Sc and PhD in same field for research associate otherwise the only option you are left with is 'Being Teacher/Professor'. So Anjali, Choose your career and its path wisely. Doing Astrophysics is absolutely good. But, you must have to make an effective plan on various questions like Where, How, What after that? Etc. My suggestion is, that you have to give your 100% best in JEEs and try to get admission in IIST. You can explore more about them on their website. Hope this helps.

Try for IISC or IISER or just through KVPY or JEE Advanced. The best colleges are under JEE so it's not waste of time if you are in position to crack it or else B.Sc physics is always an option then IIT JAM for Masters.
