well drop is not a proper option,coz aieee needs concepts and those concepts come frm theory that prevails in the 12th std course.
u must develop a conceptual approach,try to understand a particular concept and most importantly moniter problem solving,aieee has mostly heavy numerical queries, -
To clear AIEEE you just need hardwork, dedication and a good command on the subjects. Rather than droping a year, start your graduation with non-medical and take help from a good coaching centre because they prepare you to increase your IQ to quickly answer MCQs. Sometimes when we drop a year we get relaxed and don't do that much study, so it's better to be on toes and work hard.

Well I would suggest you to take a drop and join good coaching institute like Career Point etc which has well focused courses for AIEEE. But you must try getting into a good college after this to defend the gap while applying for further education programs afterwards.
