i want to do ips. please suggest me which book should i prefer for general knowledge?

i am student of b.tech 2nd year and i want to appear for ips and ias exams after graduation. please suggest me which general knowledge books should i prefer and give me some useful tips related to preparation so that my regular studies do not affected by preparing for civil services exams.

    Hi Nishu,
    IAS & IPS (Civil Service Examinations) is a tough Examination and highly competitive, so you need to start working on the preparation of IAS at an early stage.
    There are two stages of Examination in civil services which you need to clear to get into civil services: Preliminary & Main. For preparation you can either join coaching or do self study, the only thing you need to do is hard work as there is no short cut to hard work. You need to keep yourself updated on current affairs (read News papers, watch news channels) & work on your language skills (read novels).     You should focus on mainly NCERT books for history,geography,economics etc.for aptitude test you can follow RS AGGRAWAL's book.for general study focus on daily newspapers. india today,yojna etc.
