Well, there is no requirement as such of any particular degree after class 12th to head towards UPSC preparations. All you need to have a Bachelor's degree and that could be any course. Also, you only need an optional paper to study which could anything apart from your Bachelor's course as well. But

Usual answer would be the field of your choice as for IAS/Civil services you should have a degree from any background. Good to see that you have decided at an early stage what you want to be.
