The Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is one of the oldest UGC-approved central universities.
It offers admission to an undergraduate degree (B.Sc.) in biotechnology on an entrance exam basis. The eligibility criteria for admission to the B.Sc. in Biotechnology program is that the candidates must have passed the 12th standard or an equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in each science subject, i.e., physics, chemistry, and biology/mathematics.

JMI offers a plethora of PG programmes, such as MBA, MSc, MA, MTech, etc., at the PG level. These programmes are offered for a span of two years each. Admission to all PG programmes is based on a valid JMI Entrance Exam score, followed by a candidates performance in the Personal Interview (PI) round. A candidate must have more than 30% marks in the descriptive part of the entrance test to qualify for the interview.
