Dear Gurpreet, the requirements are different with different universities. On the whole applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in a related field such as chemistry, biology etc.Academic grades, letters of recommendation, personal statement must be good enough to be considered. You must also see if the program you are applying to is course based or thesis based. Most M.Sc are thesis based and research oriented, in this case you must be accepted by the research supervisor of the department as well. For further information please visit university websites.

Biotechnology is a mixture of many fields, one of which will be biochemistry. On the other hand, a pure biochemistry course will give you in-depth knowledge about biomolecules and related stuff. *Advantage of Biotechnology: You'll get to see a wider picture, probably with an application of biochemistry. You'll get to experience different fields. You'll never know what you'd like if you don't try. *Advantage of biochemistry: If you're totally sure that biochemistry is your thing, then you might as well focus on that. A course dedicated to biochemistry will give you extensive knowledge.

You can get a government job by studying any subject of your liking or disliking, the only criteria is that you need a clear exam and interview/ direct interview and vacancy.
