Physical Fitness criteria :
Candidates, those seek admission to marine courses (DG Shipping-approved courses) have to produce a medical fitness certificate which is approved by the Director General of Shipping. The number of lists for admission to IMU Chennai's BSc programme is based on the number of seats offered. The third list might not be made public if there are no seats left after the second list. The total seat intake for the BSc course at IMU Chennai is 120. All these seats are offered in one specialisation i.e., Nautical Science. To get a seat in this programme, canddiates must complete their Class 12 from the PCM stream with at least an aggregate of 60% and 50% in English at the Class 10 & 12 levels. Additionally, for the selection process, the university accepts the IMU CET exam.
