    ADMISSION ELIGIBILITY:
    A candidate is eligible for Admission and Registration for Ph.D. programme provided he/ she has qualified:
    Masters Degree of any recognised University/other qualification in a relevant field. The minimum qualifying marks are 55% at Post Graduation level (Relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Differently-Able and other categories. )
    then In the Entrance Examination conducted by the University at the national level on the pattern of UGC followed by interview.

    Dear aspirant, Ph.D. Admission Process:
    Ph.D. Admission is based on enrollment to several universities. Universities accept the results of either national level or university level entrance exams. Top Ph.D. entrance exams are CSIR UGC NET UGC NET IIT JAM and NPAT. If a candidate wishes to pursue Ph.D. in Engineering and Technology then they must possess a valid GATE score. As per the recent directives of the UGC, students who complete a four-year UG degree would be able to directly apply for pursuing a Ph.D. degree in their desired choice of course. Ph.D. Eligibility:

    Firstly, you have to complete Graduation, Master or post Graduation level and then M.Phil is also a step, ADMISSION ELIGIBILITY:

    After completing your Masters with minimum 55%, you need to qualify a test such as GATE/CSIR-NET/ JEST and TIFR /NEST /SLET etc. If you qualify written, then you'll be called for interview. In some university, you'll be required to undergo their separate written test and interview. Ph.D is offered in two modes: Part Time and Full Time
    Part Time: A candidate has to attend classes on weekends. Full Time: A candidate has to attend regular classes (56 days a week).     You will find the eligibility and procedure for doing Ph.D varies with the discipline and university/institute.
    But in general the procedure given below is followed.
    1. Eligibility: you need to have Masters level education in relevant(to the proposed subject of research for Ph.D) subject. Some institutes.universities allow exception to this rule for engineers and doctors(for them B.E./B.Tech Or M.B.B.S. is enough).
    2.Now according to new UGC rules coming in to force from 2009, you need to clear some sort of entrance exam/interview (whether it is NET or some other exam) for getting admitted to Ph.D program
