No, SRM Sonepat is not as good for any branch of engineering as the main campus SRM, Kattankulanthur is. So for mechanical engineering you should try the main campus of SRM.

If you want to become a scientist, then I would prefer you to go to SRM, Chennai not Sonepat.

But I live in Delhi and my parents are not strong. They will not let me go so far so suggest something good for me.
