    Hi,
    The UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) of India conducts the IAS exam. It has three-step process i.e.
    Preliminary Exam (Prelims)
    Main Exam (Mains) and
    Interview.
    This exam is very competitive, and requires lot of hard work and dedication to clear this exam.Please remember that since the time between the Main Exam and the declaration of result of the Preliminary Exam is very less, it is advisable to begin preparations of the Main Exam along with the Preliminary Exam.
    You should buy guide-books on the IAS exams to practice and prepare.Approximately one year before taking the test, you can consider taking coaching classes.

    Hi, to crack the exam, the preparation requires the right approach along with the right study materials and strategy. The preparation requires focused study rather than plain hard work.
    You can read guide books like General Studies Manual, Indian Politics by Lakshmikanth, Ancient History by D.D.Kausambi's, R.S.Agarwal [Arithmetic], Wren & Martin [English Grammar], Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation by Arun Sharma, etc. You may even study journals and even watch television for important news reports.
