I will be getting a rank around 2000 in JEE Mains. Can you suggest me which branch should I join if I want great job in public sector?

I need a government job with handsome salary (possibly an officer rank job). Which would be the best branch for me and in which NIT? Is ECE a good option or Mechanical? Does that branch have good offers in private sector too? Please guide me.
