It is of no use in India, only if you wish to go abroad, you may be required to appear for it. Hi, As the medium of education in universities abroad is English so all the international students whose first or native language is not english have to take IELTS test to prove their english language proficiency. IELTS has 4 section namely: - Reading. - Writing. - Speaking. - Listening. IELTS scores are accepted by universities in: - UK. - US. - Canada. - Germany. - Singapore. - Australia. - New Zealand and many more countries. Besides IELTS you also need to take below mentioned test: 1. GMAT ( for admission in MBA) 2. GRE (for admission in masters program in science and engineering fields) 3. SAT (for pursuing undergraduate degree from universities in US) Please note that, every university has its own course specific eligibility criteria for admission, in order to know the exact eligibility criteria it would be always advisable to browse through the university's website you wish to apply. Is IELTS only meant for education abroad if not how can any1 benefit out of it in India...am clueless abt dis can someone pls guide me thru am based in delhi how can i take d test how do i go abt it?

Hi Smita. IELTS is meant for studying for abroad. If you want to improve your english language IELTS is the best. In Delhi you can study at Achievers Point Delhi/NCR , India, Manya Education Private Limited (MEPL),Trump & Gates (A Unit of DMC International Limited), Trainers n Mentors ( T n M).

I am Rishi. Today I have got my IELTS score as L-6, R-5.5, W-5.5, S-6.5. Overall-6. Is this band is enough to apply for Canada?
