    Yes, why not, if you consistently fail in IIT then definitely, you will be expelled and its the case for any college across India. Well, students always fail courses at IIT. The number of for (Fail Repeat) grades awarded depends upon the professor and varies in each department. Generally, in my department (Chemical engineering) on an average 5% for grades are awarded. The maximum might go around 25-35% of the class sometimes. Generally, people scrape through exams by studying the last 2 days before the exams but in some cases, due to tough question papers set by the professor they fail to get minimum marks (which the professor decides
