If I am preparing for JEE exam, do I need to prepare separately for WBJEE?

Hello, It’s a nice query to ask. Almost students who want to pursue engineering are faced with this issue. But I would advise you not to worry. What needs to be done, one has to simply do it. Having said this, I want to allay your fears. If you are preparing for JEE then you need not prepare separately for WBJEE. Having said this, it does not mean that you can just relax. There are still some things that you must do to score good marks in WBJEE.WB Government has already issued notification for exam that is to be conducted on 22 April 2018. It will have two papers of two hours duration each. Paper 1 will be of maths and Paper 2 will be of Chemistry and Physics. Exam will be conducted only in Pen and Paper mode. These were the mundane statistics. Now I will come to nuances that you must remember or prepare for. Taking mock test every week after few months of study will go a long way in preparing you for exam. Here you will realise difference in the exam pattern. If possible then I would advise you to take some coaching for solving exams. Coaching classes have well developed skills of tricks of how to answer in shortest possible time! This goes a long way in helping students attack max questions which in turn helps in getting more marks.In conclusion, I would advise students that separate preparation is not required for WBJEE if one is studying for JEE also. Only practice of solving mock papers is required to be studied separately.

WBJEE or West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination is conducted by the state of West Bengal for admission in various state owned colleges, to their various undergraduate engineering programs. Coming back to the question, no, you do not need to prepare separately for this examination because the course and curriculum for West Bengal joint entrance examination is less than that of joint entrance examination and already covers all the topics in JEE examination. So, you are more than prepared for cracking the examination if you have prepared well for JEE. Also, the examination is a little easier than in comparison to the difficulty of joint entrance examination. But, you should not totally rely on the preparations made for JEE, and should keep a habit of solving previous year papers and mock test series for West Bengal joint entrance examination which is easily available in the market as well as on online portals. This will help you get the hang of the structure of the examination as it is totally different from JEE. I hope this helps. Cheers!

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB). The board was established in 1962 primarily to conduct Common Entrance Examinations for Undergraduate Level Engineering Courses in West Bengal. The Common Entrance Examination will be conducted for admissions to professional undergraduate and post graduate level courses offered in Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy, Medical, Dental and Architecture in Universities, Government Colleges as well as Self Financing Engineering & Technological Institutes in the State of West Bengal. This entrance exam will be conducted in offline mode to test the aptitude of candidates in three subjects which are Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics. It has a total of 155 questions and 200 marks. If you are already preparing for JEE exams, then you don't really need to prepare for WBJEE exam separately. But there are few things you should consider and keep in mind: First, level of the exam is moderate therefore you should be beware of the silly mistake made because of confusing choices are given as an answer. Second, you should be accurate and have a good speed in solving questions. Hope it helps.

Although the nature of the question may differ as JEE focuses more on the application question and WBJEE as more straightforward question the topics covered are quite similar.So in case one prepares for JEE then that would be good enough to crack WBJEE. Some difference are there between the two which could include: JEE Mains is a national level competitive exam where you have choices of getting NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. Where as WBJEE is a state level competitive exam where you get admission into the colleges under West Bengal government such as colleges under WBUT, JU and CU. WBJEE is of 350 marks.The question paper comprises of four sections - Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biological Sciences.Each sections will be divided into three categories, which will be based on distribution of different pattern of marking scheme. JEE Main (paper 1) comprises of questions from Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics. All questions carry equal weightage 30 questions from each subject. Each question will have 4 answer options. The candidates have to choose one correct answer. Each correct answer will get 4 marks. For each wrong answer, or 1 mark will be deducted (negative marking) 5-For not responding or opting for any option in any question, no marks or zero marks will be deducted.
