If I do not have any formal training in design, how do I still become a successful designer?

    Hi,
    First of all there is nothing like a successful designer like thing. They are all successful businessmen, not merely designers. To make a name in the fashion industry, especially in a country like India then you need to think like a businessman, not like a fashion designer. You can outsource things rather to make and design them for yourself. Search for the vendor, who can make garments for you. One needs to think about customer point of view and then design smartly according to the customers need. You can also do some short Diploma courses from colleges like NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology) or from wherever you prefe

    As a matter of fact, having a formal fashion education, under an expert and experienced faculty, at a premier institute, gives you the leverage and edge to hone one's skills and bag the best job opportunities. However, If you really have a raw talent, you are willing to work hard and you have picked up the basic skills necessary to secure an entry-level position in the fashion industry, there's a good chance you'll be able to make it without a degree.
