Commented by2011-09-20 14:02:05I believe this ranking system are beneficial for students as well as for institutes because, they are based on many parameters like infrastructure , quality of professors, placement of students, technical inventions and innovations by colleges and etc . So this ranking gives u an idea in which parameter u are good and for which parameters u need to workout. So this ranking systems can be helpful in strengthening education. Ranking is not for competition but it is only to show how much more improvement is required.
I would say only to an extent a person can depend on these rankings as these rankings are at times biased and do used by institutes for marketing purposes, but yes they do give you some idea of the market of an institute, so from students point of view I would say that they should not completely depend on these rankings.
