As of now the best line of action would be to focus on your engg subject and more so if you want to choose this subject itself for UPSC or state OSC exams. Try to make your fundamentals very celar. Side by side enhance your GK and knowledge of current affairs.

    Hi,
Preparing for Civil Services requires combination of smartness and hard work. Do the right things to gain an edge over your competition:
*Get the right books for Prelims
*Start preparing at least 10 months before
*Solve past year questions to test yourself on regular basis
    *Cover the scoring sections early
*Cover the syllabus strategically. Don't go for a "prepare all" approach for prelims
    *Balance paper 1 and 2
I would suggest you to spend quality time everyday by reading journals, magazines, newspapers, etc. You may also refer the books below:
    Indian Politics by Lakshmikanth
    Ancient History by D.D.Kausambi's
    R.S.Agarwal [Arithmetic]
