In 2012 my GATE rank was 5500,and this year 6810.i want to go for m.tech.should i apply with the previous rank?& where?

my stream is electrical.my cgpa is 8.57.i have completed my b.tech in the year 2012.i dont know where to apply?i know only about iits and nits.but with this rank i dont thnik i'll get admission in any such colleges.is there any other option for me?please suggest me what to do?
