It Depends on your interest, Mechanical Engineering is Best, After B.Tech Depending on your interest you can do research in any of Design, Production, Thermal and other Departments. In First year you will have common subjects, but each and every semester will help you what you learning and why. If you Get good knowledge, In the core company in your college placement you can get more than 4.2 LPA You can Participate in Various Events for Mechanical (Eyantra, Bike, SAE Baja and SAE Supra, etc. ). You will learn many things like by participating in this events which are related to mechanical subjects. * please Gain knowledge and Good Aggregate (more than 75%) in your B tech. If you want to do MS then Try Germany. Or Prepare for GATE. Take advise of your professors in B tech College, they will help you.

My cousin did B.Tech in IT as per his interest at LPU and is now well settled.
