In UPSC exam, law answers have to comprise the technical parts also like sections, cases which gives a very good impression on your answer. It does not have to limited to the books but has to contain the aforesaid. See the answer sheets of UPSC toppers to get an idea. -
Yes, in the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) exam, you can and are encouraged to write your answers in your own words.
