There are other good colleges, where you need not give CAT to pursue MBA. Except XAT, all other exams are pretty easy as compared to CAT. Some of these are:
NMIMS(Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad) - NMAT exam.
    Symbiosis(Pune) - SNAP exam.
    JBIMS, Wellingkar, K.J. Somaiya(all Mumbai) - MH-CET.
    XLRI(Jamshedpur), XIMB(Bhubaneshwar), TAPMI(Manipal) - XAT
    IIFT(New Delhi) - IIFT
Tata Institute Of Social Sciences(Mumbai) - TISS.
You can also give exams like MAT, CMAT, AIMA, etc.

Basu, certain average colleges offer you admission without CAT but then they don't talk of placements.
The best like IIMs, etc take admission with CAT only.
Certain private ones like LPU, AMU, BMLMU, etc offer admissions with CAT/XAT/MAT or their own tests. They even have good placements.
Check with institutes for more information.
    Good luck.

    Hi Basu,
It is very important to appear for any kind of entrance test to get an admission into any of the reputed business school. But, if you don't want to give CAT entrance test, then you can go for SNAP test. It's an entrance test, which is to be given to get an admission into any of the Symbiosis institute that you are interested in.
The SNAP test is like a common entrance test. However, to keep you informed the SNAP test registrations have already begun.
    Good luck.

You can appear for the colleges mentioned in the above list by appearing for MAT.
