These exams mostly take place in the month of December or January of every year and a student studying in 4th year can only appear. So it will be at the end of your 7th semester or at the start of 8th semester.

You are eligible in your last semester as CAT score is valid for a year so you can check and calculate accordingly. According to me, it will be perfect when you are in the end of the 7th semester or in the beginning of the 8th semester.
