Good question. Short answer — LPU is generally easier than Thapar for MBA, but it depends:

    • Thapar MBA (LM Thapar School of Management) admits via CAT, NMAT, CMAT, etc., and its MBA cutoffs are fairly high: Thapar's CMAT cutoff was ~75.

    • LPU MBA is more flexible: they accept LPUNEST, CAT, MAT, CMAT, XAT and require ~55% in graduation.

    • LPU also has a bigger intake and more scholarship options, so for someone looking at easier access + lower barrier, LPU tends to be more accessible.

So: if you want safety + flexibility → LPU. If you want a more “prestigious-MBA-school feel” and are confident in exam-based admission

If we look at MBA admissions in Thapar University and Lovely Professional University, both have their own standards and processes. Thapar, being more niche and limited in intake, often keeps higher eligibility scores and mostly prefers candidates with exceptional academic records or specific entrance exam performance. LPU, on the other hand, offers a wider intake capacity, multiple scholarship options, and accepts a variety of entrance tests including its own LPUNEST, along with national exams like CAT, MAT, and XAT. This flexibility makes it more approachable for students coming from diverse backgrounds without compromising on quality

The eligibility requirements for admission to the MBA course at Thapar University and LPU are almost similar, in which candidates are required to complete their graduation with a minimum aggregate of 50% to 55%.

    • Selection criteria for MBA at LPU: LPUNEST/ CAT/ MAT/ XAT/ CMAT/ NMAT + GDPI
    • Selection criteria for MBA at Thapar University: CAT/ NMAT/ XAT/ CMAT/ MAT/ GMAT/ GRE/ SNAP,  followed by PI.

Thus, the admission process for the MBA course is similar in both universities. The only difference is in some of the accepted entrance exams.
