Is a degree from Mahatma Gandhi University valid for a government job?

I have done my BBA from IIPM Chandigarh and the college was affiliated from Mahatma Gandhi University. Now, I am applying for the post of Sub-inspector in Punjab Police. So, will my degree be valid as I am student of IIPM and there are various rumours that IIPM is fake and all.

As per UGC private/state university is not authorized to award degree outside state through its study center or by franchising, I was too student of Mahatma Gandhi University completed my MBA from IIPM Mumbai, and I am too confused about distance degree validity.
