  • Yes, acupuncture is legal in India, but it is recognised as an alternative therapy rather than a mainstream medical practice.

In 2003, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare declared acupuncture as a form of therapy under the National Health Policy. However, it is not yet regulated as a medical system like Ayurveda, Homeopathy, or Allopathy.

While practitioners can legally offer acupuncture services, they must ensure they have proper training and certification from recognised institutes.
