Is AICTE is mandatory for IES exam.

I am a student of cmj university Meghalaya pursuing B.Tech mechanical engineering department. Still my university is recognised by UGC bt not AICTE approval. Is university required AICTE approval and also UGC recognised university student can apply IES exam please infrom me.
