Bengal Institute of Business Studies, in general, is considered a Tier-2 business school in India. In general, Tier 1 institutions are those which happen to be ranked at the top and highly prestigious ones, such as IIMs, XLRI, and ISB, endowed with global reputation and known for their very competitive selection processes. Although BIBS can be said to have quite good education and placements, especially in Kolkata, it is not nationally or internationally famous like Tier 1 institutions. Yet, it is a good option in management studies, particularly in the mindset of students who seek quality education within eastern India.

  • In india, there are three types of colleges. They are Tier 1 college, Tier 2 college and Tier 3 college. In this,  Tier 1 colleges are those that have the best academics, infrastrucure, faculty, research, placements, alumini network and national/international presence. They also have high NIRF/NAAC ranking. whereas Tier 2 colleges are those have middle level facilities of the above parameters, and tier 3 colleges fall behind tier 2. All this above parameters are there in this Bengal Institute of Business Studies college. so, this college comes under Tier 1 college.
