The university was established in the year 1981 and was inaugurated by then Prime Minister Late Smt. Indira Gandhi. The university is considered a state government university. Birsa Agricultural University offers a total of 41 courses at diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. Candidates need to meet the eligibility criteria of the courses to get admission to the university. The university offers various scholarships for students who are in need of financial assistance.
