Mormonism, is a religious movement, started by Joseph Smith during the 1820s & 1830s, that aimed to bring humans closer to god, by doing deeds that aligned with the almighty's wishes.
Mormon refers to individuals who follow the religion. So, yes, Mormonism is still a key part of BYU.
