The difficulty level of both is almost the same but you had to deal with more detailed and vast syllabus in CA whereas CMA syllabus is focused on only cost accounting related subjects. -
Both charted accountants and cost and management accountants are very challenging and esteemed professionals examinations of India. And both the courses require constant hard work and efforts as well as dedication towards the profession. But To be very honest charted accountant is a way more prosperous degree than CMA in terms of its appeal in India and if we compare the level of examination then CA is surely tougher than CMA, it has been rightly said that CA is the toughest exam in India other than government exams.

CA is tougher than CMA in terms of syllabus content. But the number of CA pass-outs always remains better than the number of CMA pass-outs. CMA is much more oriented towards cost and accountancy whereas in CA you study certain other subjects as well. -
Considering the syllabus, Chartered Accountant is tougher than CMA. However, the number of Chartered Accountant pass-outs is always higher than CMA pass-outs. The Institute of Cost Accountants of India-Chartered Accountants has a wider syllabus, whereas, the CMA syllabus typically covers topics related to cost and accountancy.
