From my side, It is a yes.Candidate who is preparing for CAT exam are prepared for bank exams also but the reverse is not true.
The bulk of the syllabus for banking and CAT exams consists of:
    - Quantitative Aptitude- Logical Reasoning- Data Interpretation- Verbal Reasoning- Critical Reasoning- Verbal Aptitude- Reading Comprehension
The bank syllabus has some extra bit.-&get; General Awareness-&get; Computer Awareness-&get; Banking Awareness- &get; Marketing Aptitude
IBPS Clerk online application process is going on so you can fill the form & go for it. Check the exam pattern here so it will give you the idea of the exam.

CAT coaching is helpful for getting admission in MBA colleges.
Banking is a different field. You should do graduation and start doing preparation for banking.

    Dear Sona,
Nothing is useless. If you are talking about basics, CAT coaching can help in bank preparation. Quantitative aptitude, reasoning and personal interview will help you to clear Bank exams as well.
But I will suggest you to pick syllabus of Banking exam and do it one by one. Good luck.

Not much. The pattern of both CAT and bank are different. You can go for specialised courses conducted by SBI & IBPS.
