Absolutely not! Giving the CAT is a must, only if you are aiming the IIMs. Else, you can also appear for the other exams too like NMAT, CMAT SNAP CET, etc. as per your dream college (s). https://www.shiksha.com/mba/articles/20-mba-entrance-exams-you-can-take-this-year-blogId-11473 kindly visit this link for more details. There are many entrance exams for MBA in India. Only CAT exam is not necessary, but it is mandatory exam, if you want to join in top colleges and Iims. And, it's one of the toughest exams in India. Every year, many aspirants will strive to get a better CAT rank. And the number of aspirants in increasingly every year immensely because of the CAT craze. XAT (Xavier Admission Test):
Xavier Business schools conduct XAT. XLRI, Jamshedpur, XIM Bhubaneswar, XIME Bangalore, Loyola Chennai, GIM Goa, etc. Accept XAT scores. Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET)
The IITs conduct JMET. Other than the IITs, IISc also accepts JMET scores for managemen
    ...more
