No, some colleges have their own entrance exams like SNAP (for symbiosis), IIFT, XAT (for XLRI), Maharashtra CET (for top colleges in Maharashtra through CET). CAT is important to get admission into IIMs, IITs, and other top colleges.

Yes, CAT is an important exam to get into IIMs for MBA. Its the only exam to get into MBA course for IIMs. IIMs gives weightage to 10-12th percentage + CAT percentile + WAT/PI performance + any work experience for selecting a candidate. CAT is an important exam for various MBA courses but it is not the only exam for MBA course. There are various exams like MAT, CMAT, NMAT, SNAP, MHCET, etc. A lot of colleges have their own written exam.
